Connect Telegram to Your Team
Complete this guide to start receiving Telegram messages in your SignSlip team inbox.
1Open BotFather on Telegram
- Open Telegram (mobile app or web at
web.telegram.org) - Search for
@BotFatherin the search bar - Click on "BotFather" (verified with a blue checkmark)
- Click "Start" to begin chatting with BotFather
2Create a New Bot
- Type the command:
/newbot - BotFather will ask for a name (e.g., "My Business Inbox")
- Then ask for a username (must end with "bot" and be unique, e.g., "mybusiness_bot")
- BotFather will confirm the bot is created and show you a token
✓ Copy your token now! It looks like:
123456789:ABCDefGHIJKlmnoPQRstuvwxyz... You'll need this in the next step.
3Add Bot to Your Team
- Go back to SignSlip: Team Settings → Connected Channels
- Click "Add Channel"
- Select "Telegram"
- Give your bot a name (e.g., "Sales Channel")
- Paste your bot token
- Click "Save"
4Start Using Your Bot
- Find your bot username on the confirmation page (looks like:
@mybusiness_bot) - Share that username with your customers or team
- When someone messages your bot, the message appears in your SignSlip inbox
- Reply directly from SignSlip — your response goes back to them via Telegram
⚠️ Keep your token private — it's like a password for your bot. If someone gets your token, they can control your bot. Never share it publicly or paste it anywhere except SignSlip.
Troubleshooting
Bot isn't receiving messages?
- Make sure your Telegram bot username is correct
- Check that your bot token is valid (no extra spaces)
- Verify your SignSlip team is on an active subscription
- Try sending a test message directly to your bot
