Receive and reply to WhatsApp messages directly in your team's unified inbox
1 Create a Twilio Account
WhatsApp integrates through Twilio (same account as SMS can be used).
- Go to twilio.com/try-twilio
- Sign up with your email and phone
- Complete verification
2 Get Twilio Credentials
- Log in to console.twilio.com
- Copy your Account SID and Auth Token
3 Set Up WhatsApp in Twilio
- In Twilio console: Messaging → WhatsApp
- Click Get Started
- Accept Terms & Conditions
- Get your Twilio WhatsApp number (or connect your business number)
✓ WhatsApp sandbox is free for testing; production requires business verification
4 Add WhatsApp Channel in SignSlip
- Log in to SignSlip dashboard
- Select your team
- Click Add WhatsApp Channel
- Fill in:
- Channel Name: e.g., "Customer Support"
- Phone Number: Your Twilio WhatsApp number
- Account SID: From step 2
- Auth Token: From step 2
- Click Create Channel
5 Configure Twilio Webhook
- In Twilio: Messaging → WhatsApp Sandbox
- Go to Sandbox Settings
- Find "When a message comes in"
- Set webhook URL to:
https://yoursite.com/api/webhooks/twilio/whatsapp
- Save
6 Test It
- Send test message from WhatsApp to your Twilio number
- Message appears in SignSlip inbox
- Team members can reply
